Making Of

Our Ward Lock & Co Books

Whilst on our epic adventures in Scotland in 2010, Gina found in a dusty old book store in a back street of Edinburgh, The Ward Lock & Co ‘North Wales – Northern Section’ Red travel guides. The book is amazing. It’s dated 1930-1931, and it’s full of information about towns & villages dotted around North Wales. It contains beautiful old maps and old photographs, just to show how beautiful North Wales is. Iestyn managed to track down ‘North Wales – Southern Section’, (dated a bit earlier than the Northern) 1906 – and our collection is complete! They are beautiful wee books, complete with old adverts, and charming wit.

Our project is to locate where the pictures were taken from, and do a ‘Now and Then’ comparison with some information about the attraction. It’s proven to be a lovely project, with Gina the mastermind behind it, and Iestyn the driver and ‘photograph taker’ (as I know Wales pretty damn well).
